Defending champions Dar Kulaib outclassed chief title rivals Al Ahli in three sets to wrap up their campaign in the Top Six round of the 2023/2024 Isa bin Rashid Bahrain Volleyball League.
Dar Kulaib coasted to their fine victory with a 3-0 (25-13, 25-18, 25-21) score line. The result secured their place atop the standings and the number one seed in the Golden Square semi-finals.
There, they will face fourth-ranked Muharraq. Ahli, meanwhile, will take on third seeds Al Najma. The pair of Golden Square series are set to be played in best-of-three format.
Both Dar Kulaib and Ahli played key players limited minutes in yesterday’s contest, which had no bearing on the final standings. Dar Kulaib were thus led by Brazilian import Caio Oliveira, Mohammed Yaqoob, Ali Mohammed, Hassan Alaiwi, Ali Habib, Hassan Al Warqa, Abdulla Mohammed and Mahmoud Abdulwahed.
Ahli relied on Sayed Mohammed Al Abrar, Mahmoud Abdulhussain, Mohammed Habib, and Hassan Shakhouri, among others.
Meanwhile, in another game, Muharraq won 3-1 (22-25, 25- 18, 25-21, 28-26) against Nabih Saleh in both teams’ concluding Top Six fixture.
Muharraq relied on the play of Mahmood Alafia, Majeed Mohammed, Sayed Ali Mohammed, Hussain Ehsan, Abbas Al Khabbaz, and recently signed Russian professional Victor Sysoev.
For Nabih Saleh, they were led by Sayed Hashem Issa, who was the game’s top scorer with 25 points, along with Mohammed Jassim, Hussain Ashoor and Nigerian professional Oyewale Oyedepo. Muharraq ended the Top Six with five wins from their 10 games while Nabih Saleh had seven losses to go with three wins.
