Mid-of-the-table Al Najma and Al Hala both posted stunning victories last night to kick off week 11 in the 2023/2024 Nasser bin Hamad Bahrain Premier Football League.

Najma came away with a resounding 4-2 victory against Hidd, while Hala upset Al Ahi 2-1.

Action in the Kingdom’s top competition resumed after a several-week break for the Kingdom’s national team players to prepare and compete in the AFC Asian Cup.

In Najma’s big win, Hidd were first to find the net when Tallysson Lucas Souza Duarte scored just 10 minutes into the game.

Hidd remained in front at the break, but then Najma put on a scoring barrage of four successive goals, taking full control of the clash.

Edimar Ribeiro Da Costa Junior first brought them on level terms in the 49th minute, and then Florian Pascal David put Najma in front in the 62nd.

Mohammed Al Rumaihi made it 3-1 just six minutes later, before Abdulla Nimr applied the final nail in the coffin.

Ali Muneer scored one more consolation for Hidd in the fifth minute of second-half stoppage time.

Najma claimed their fourth win in 11 games and went to 15 points on the table, while Hidd suffered their seventh defeat and stayed on eight in secondfrom-last.

Meanwhile, in Hala’s victory, Ocran Conney Idan opened the scoring in the match in the 12th minute, but Jamal Rashed was quick to equalise for Ahli just four minutes later.

Rashed’s goal sent the contest into the half tied at 1-1. After the restart, Mohammed Salem fired in the winning strike in the 68th minute, separating the two sides.

With the result, Hala claimed their fifth win in 11 matches and improved to 15 points.

Ahli suffered only their third loss and stayed on 18.

League action continues tonight and tomorrow with two matches each evening.

Tonight, Busaiteen face Al Shabab and Manama take on leaders Riffa, while tomorrow, East Riffa and defending champions Al Khaldiya face off while Muharraq play Sitra.

All four games are scheduled for simultaneous 7pm kick-offs at separate venues.
