Bahrain’s Al Ahli Club will face Seeb Club of Oman in the quarter-finals tomorrow of the second West Asian Men‘s Clubs Volleyball Championship, currently being held in Muscat.

The Bahrainis came away with their knockout pairing following the completion last night of the final day of preliminary round games.

Ahli completed their campaign in Group B with three wins in their four matches.

Their victories came against Kuwait SC of Kuwait, Shabab Al Hussain of Jordan and home side Sohar SC of Oman.

Their only loss, from their first game of the competition, was against Al Arabi of Qatar.

The other match-ups in the last eight pit Al Rayyan of Qatar against Sohar, Arabi against Baniyas of the UAE, and an all-Kuwaiti clash between Kuwait SC and Al Qadsia.

Two teams have already been eliminated from further title contention, namely Shabab Al Hussain and Al Ibtisam of Saudi Arabia.

Only the top four teams from each of the two preliminary pools advanced to the quarters.

Ahli will be relying heavily on their top talents tomorrow against Seeb, including Bahrain national team stars Ali Ebrahim and Nasser Anan, along with Montenegro professional Marko Vukasinovic.

Also hopeful of making key contributions are Sayed Mohammed Al Abrar, Mahmoud Abdulhussain, Mohammed Habib and Hassan Shakhouri, among others. Today is a rest day.

Following tomorrow’s quarter-finals, the semi-finals will be held on Saturday, and then the final and bronze medal game are slated for Sunday, the tournament’s concluding day.
