Exciting eight-race card today at REHC

The HH Shaikh Faisal bin Rashid bin Isa Al Khalifa Cup headlines an eight-race card today in the 21st meeting of the 2023/2024 season at Rashid Equestrian and Horseracing Club (REHC) in Sakhir.
The graded, class-one race, which will be the last of the day, is to be held over eight furlongs, with BD12,000 in total prize money up for grabs.
Seven imported horses are in the fray, representing leading owners such as Al Mohamediya Racing, Al Adiyat Racing, Al Afoo Racing and Mohammed Khalid Abdulrahim.
Top jockeys are also set to ride, including Jason Watson on Fawzi Nass-trained Bussento, Neil Callan on Royal Scimitar, also Nass trained, and Gerald Mosse on Time Step, trained by AM Smith, to name a few.
Also to be won today is the HH Shaikh Isa bin Faisal bin Rashid Al Khalifa Cup in race two. It will be held over seven furlongs and it is a graded, class-one event for local breeds. Eight entrants are to battle it out for the lion’s share of the BD3,000 prize, with top owners including Al Mohamediya, Al Afoo, M and E Racing, HH Shaikh Mohammed bin Abdulla bin Isa Al Khalifa and HH Shaikh Isa bin Abdulla bin Isa Al Khalifa represented.
Meanwhile, four Lexus Cups are up for the taking in the third, fourth, fifth and seventh events, while The Mazad Cup will be won in the sixth race. The Lexus Cups will be highlighted by the fifth race, held over a five-furlong distance for imported horses, with BD5,000 in prize money.
The Mazad Cup will be contested over nine furlongs for local breeds, with BD2,000 in prize money to be won. In the day’s first race, a WAHO event over six furlongs, the Late Hasan bin Saleh Al Rowaiee Cup is on offer, with BD1,500 in winnings. The horseracing action is scheduled to begin at 1.45pm and continue until nearly 5pm. All are welcome to attend at REHC.
