Ioana, Oktay crowned singles champions!

Ioana Stefania Boian of Romania and Ramazan Kaan Oktay of Turkey were yesterday crowned champions of their respective singles categories in the Bahrain International Tennis Federation (ITF) Juniors Championship 2024, which came to a close at the Bahrain Tennis Federation (BTF) courts in Isa Town.

Ioana claimed the girls’ singles title after defeating Samira Rashidova 6-3, 3-6, 6-0 in their final; while Oktay won the boys’ singles crown with a 6-1, 6-2 triumph over Khaled Ibrahim of Egypt.

Following both matches, BTF board members Mohammed Salman and Adnan Kamal, along with the tournament’s general referee Ahmed Al Hawaj, presented the winners and runners-up their awards.

Both Ioana and Oktay wrapped up sensational tournament campaigns yesterday and each came away with a fantastic title double, having also won their doubles categories the previous day on Friday.

Ioana teamed up with fellow-Romanian Simona Cucu in their run for their championship, while Oktay paired up with fellow-Turk Utku Kerem Biberli to capture their gold medals.

The competition was part of the ITF World Tennis Tour Juniors Calendar 2024 as a J30 event.

It will be followed by another J30 tournament, scheduled to begin tomorrow and continue until March 2, forming an impressive backto-back of ITF juniors tournaments in the Kingdom.
