Japan top medal tally in Asian juniors’ fencing

Japan were crowned overall champions in the juniors category of the Asian Juniors and Cadets Fencing Championships 2024, which came to a close at Isa Sports City in Riffa.
The Japanese came away with four gold medals and three bronze for a seven-medal haul.
One of their golds was won on Saturday in the junior team women’s epee competition. The quartet of Mizuki Homma, Rin Kishimoto, Makoto Nakamura and Mai Suda captured the title.
China took the silver medals while bronze went to South Korea. In other contests, Uzbe
kistan took gold in the junior team women’s saber and Hong Kong, China, won the junior team men’s foil.
The victorious Uzbek saber squad featured Luisa Fernanda Herrera Lara, Nargiza Jaksybaeva, Gulistan Perdibaeva, and Samira Shokirova. Hong Kong, China were the silver-medallists, while Kazakhstan were the bronze winners.
For Hong Kong, China, their triumphant foil quartet included Tit Nam Cheng, Chi Lok Choi, Ho Long Lam and Long To Chris Mak.
Singapore took the silver and Japan the bronze medals. Following the Japanese on the overall juniors’ medal tally were Uzbekistan, China, South Korea and Hong Kong.
