Bahraini-British motor racing team 2 Seas Motorsport are set to compete in the 2024 season of GT World Challenge Europe, the team has announced.
Their debut campaign in the series adds to their participation in the British GT Championship, thus expanding their racing schedule for the season.
2 Seas are the reigning GT3 teams’ title-holders in British GT and will be looking to add to their accolades when they compete in the GT World Challenge’s Gold Cup.
Their driver line-up in the GT World Challenge Europe will be spearheaded by 2 Seas c o - o w n e r His Highness Shaikh Isa bin Abdulla bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Lewis Williamson of Scotland, and Martin Kodric of Croatia.
The championship calendar features four rounds in Europe and the championship-finale in Saudi Arabia.
HH Shaikh Isa, Williamson, and Kodric have all driven with the team across multiple other events. HH Shaikh Isa is a double champion in the Gulf 12 Hours, and he will be making his European race debut.
He is joined by former Autosport BRDC Award winner Williamson, who is back with the team having scored multiple podium-finishes in the 2022 British GT campaign.
Kodric is also returning with 2 Seas having been teammates with HH Shaikh Isa for their Gulf 12 Hours victories, and has also scored wins in GT Open and British GT events.
“This is an exciting new challenge for the team, and for me, personally,” said HH Shaikh Isa. “We have shown that we can more than compete with the best, and you only really improve if you push yourself.
Benchmark
“GT World Challenge Europe has become the performance benchmark for drivers, teams, and manufacturers, and it attracts the best in the world.
We had a taste of the challenge we face during the Gulf 12 Hours, and more than proved we can take it to the big teams, and we will give this new challenge everything we have.”
The GT World Challenge Europe calendar gets underway March 5 and 6 with a prologue at Circuit Paul Ricard in France, where the first round will then be held from April 5 to 7.
Another prologue on May 21 and 22 will be held for a 24-hour race in Spa, Belgium, marking round two from June 26 to 30.
Round three will take place at the Nurburgring in Germany from July 26 to 28, and then the fourth and penultimate meeting will be held from September 20 to 22 in Monza, Italy.
The curtain-closer is then scheduled for November 21 to 23 in Jeddah.
“It is really great to be running with Lewis and Martin, two hugely experienced and quick drivers, and we are aiming for strong results straight out of the box when we arrive at Paul Ricard,” said HH Shaikh Isa.
