Najma claim crucial win over Muharraq

Al Najma posted a hardearned 89-77 victory over Muharraq last night in their Top Six game of the 2023/2024 Zain Bahrain Basketball League.

Najma overcame a sluggish start to take a 25-14 lead at the end of the first quarter, and maintained their advantage at 46-37 at the half.

They never looked back from there, leading by as many as 18 points late in the contest en route to the 12-point win. Elijah Robinson scored 30 points to lead the winners in the contest, while Adrian Uter finished with 23 to go with 11 rebounds in his debut with Najma.

Mahmood Abbas Isa contributed 12 in the win. For Muharraq, Bader Abdulla Malabes scored 23 points while Ricardo Ledo had 11 and Ali Shukrallah 10. The result earned Najma their second win in three games while handing Muharraq their second loss in three outings.

Najma tied defending champions Manama, Al Ahli and Al Ettihad on five points apiece on the league standings and are currently in the last position for a place in the Golden Square semi-finals. Muharraq went to four points and are currently out of a place for the last four.
