Rashid Equestrian and Horseracing Club (REHC) held a graduation for jockeys who completed a fivemonth training course at REHC’s Bahrain Jockey Academy.
The course included theoretical and practical lectures under the supervision of a number of specialists. Since the establishment of the academy at REHC in 2021, organising such training programmes comes in line with the development and courses placed by REHC, which will result in positive outcomes, and will contribute to supporting goals aimed at creating promising and new job opportunities for Bahraini youth to enter the labour market.
Such efforts of REHC include organising projects and programmes at the academy to develop jockeys as well as to contribute to the encouragement and motivation of many Bahraini youth and engage them in the fields of equestrianism and horseracing.
These are among new fields of work that youth can be engaged in by being qualified and developed. The academy aims to increase the number of qualified jockeys along with other necessary staff for horse riding in Bahraini stables.
This is done by the academy’s organisation of training courses and programmes that are held according to the latest methods, resulting in jockeys acquiring the needed skills and developing their levels in order to be qualified for advanced stages in the horseracing sector.
Such training courses also aim to qualify and refine new Bahraini jockeys and apprentices with the basic rules and skills of horseracing from the best lecturers who are specialised in this field; therefore, supporting and developing Bahraini jockeys in the sport.
The graduates received their graduation certificates during the final meet of the 2023/2024 season. They included 22 jockeys, apprentices, and amateurs, including five participants who were able to obtain internationally accredited apprentice jockey licenses.
