Bahrain’s Riffa were last night crowned champions of the FIBA 3x3 Lausanne Super Quest 2024, which came to a close in Switzerland.

Riffa claimed the title after defeating home side Lausanne 21-14 in the tournament final.

The Riffa squad is composed of the quartet of Bryan De Valck, Dennis Donkor, Jonas Foerts, and Thibaut Vervoort, all from Belgium.

Earlier in the day yesterday, Riffa had beaten Nantes ATC Crosser of France 21-11 in the semi-finals to book their ticket in the championship game.

In the quarters, Riffa beat Carolina CASA POL of Puerto Rico. On the road to the final eight, Riffa had split their two games in the preliminary round.

Playing in Pool A, Riffa first beat Santurce CASA POL of Puerto Rico 21-11, but then lost to Ermont SENEF of France 17-20.

It was enough to get them through to the quarter-finals. A total of 12 teams competed in the tournament, including from Switzerland, France, Puerto Rico, Germany, and Canada.

They were divided into four pools for the opening stage. With the result, Riffa have risen to fifth on the top 10 ranked teams in the world, behind only sides from Serbia, the US, the Netherlands, and Austria.

The team ranking is used to determine which squads are preferentially allocated to the professional circuit, such as the FIBA 3x3 World Tour and Challengers.

The FIBA 3x3 World Tour will be making a stop in the Kingdom this November 1 and 2 for the second edition of the Manama Masters.
