Al Ahli forced a winnertake-all game three last night in their semi-final series against Al Najma in the His Royal Highness the Crown Prince’s Cup 2024 volleyball tournament.
After losing game one of their best-of-three clash, Ahli roared back in the second game yesterday to win 3-1 (25-17, 25-22, 16-25, 25-23) and send the headto-head to a decisive rubber match.
Ahli were the early aggressors and after a brief setback in the third set, recovered in the fourth to close out the contest.
A Mohammed Habib spike helped them take the early match lead, and then a Nasser Anan secured their twoset advantage.
Najma stayed in contention with their backs against the wall and a Jacob Link ace reduced their deficit.
But Ahli replied right away and a service winner from Ali Ebrahim secured the match.
Najma had previously drawn first blood in this semis series with a hard-earned win in five sets in game one.
Following game three, the winners of this semi-final move on to battle for the title against the victor from the other match-up between holders Dar Kulaib and Muharraq.
Muharraq currently hold the 1-0 lead after beating Dar Kulaib in four sets in game one.
Game two is scheduled for tonight, starting at 7pm.
Dar Kulaib won last year’s competition after defeating Ahli in four sets in a rocking final
