Bahrain ready for IronMan
HH Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Representative of His Majesty the King for Charity Works and Youth Affairs, Chairman of the Supreme Council for Youth and Sports and President of Bahrain Olympic Committee affirmed that the Kingdom of Bahrain is continuing its preparations to host the approaching IronMan 70.3 Championship this Saturday.
The championship will also be the third and final stage of the Nasser Bin Hamad Triple Crown Series, one of the most distinguished triathlon competitions in the world.
Nasser Bin Hamad Triple Crown Series Organising Committee announced that it is coordinating with Ironman Europe, Middle East and Africa Organisation and the related official authorities.
The committee and the organisation inspected the race course and set a comprehensive plan to ensure the success of the race, which is expected to host the best triathletes of the world.
Shaikh Nasser underscored the significant position that the Kingdom of Bahrain is now holding among sport events hosting countries, adding that hosting such an international championship, which is organised for the first time in the Middle East, in addition to hosting the final stage of Nasser Bin Hamad Triple Crown Series is definitely an opportunity to promote the Kingdom and its recent developments and achievements in all fields.
He added hosting the championship comes the same time as the Kingdom’s celebrates national day and the anniversary of His Majesty the King’s accession to the throne.
Shaikh Nasser has directed organisers to ensure implementing efficient procedures during the days of the race and to coordinate with the official parties in the country to avoid the flaws that occurred in the previous edition of the race, at the same time he reaffirmed his confidence in the organising committee member’s responsibility to reflect a positive image of the Kingdom of Bahrain in this important event.
Shaikh Nasser also confirmed the participation of Bahrain Endurance 13 Ironman Team in the championship, including the first nominee to win Nasser Bin Hamad Triple Crown Series Daniela Ryf.
The organising committee announced that the race will consist of a 1.9km swim, 90km cycling that finishes at Bahrain International Circuit and will be followed by a 5.5km run.
