The Tesla Model S Plaid has set a new quarter-mile record with a time of 8.56 seconds.
The record-setting sprint was performed by DragTimes, who shared the stats and video on the social media platform X (formerly Twitter).
The video shows the Model S Plaid on a drag strip, reaching a top speed of 162 mph while completing the quarter-mile.
The video also reveals that the Model S Plaid was stripped down to reduce weight, with the entire front dash removed.
The sprint took place on a prepared drag strip, aiding in the impressive timing.
Despite being a $90,000 fourdoor electric sedan, the Model S Plaid's quarter-mile performance is notable, especially considering its main rivals are hypercars priced over $2 million.
