Chinese luxury electric vehicle brand Zeekr unveiled its latest SUV, the Zeekr 9X, on Tuesday, showcasing its advanced autonomous driving technology as domestic automakers race to introduce hands-free cars to the market.

The Zeekr 9X is equipped with L3-ready autonomous driving capabilities, allowing drivers to take their hands off the wheel but still requiring them to be alert and ready to intervene if necessary.

Chen Qi, a vice president at Zeekr, emphasized at an event in Hangzhou, "We will make advanced intelligent driving a must-have for users in the era of intelligence."

Geely-owned Zeekr will debut the new SUV at the Shanghai Auto Show next month, with deliveries expected to begin in the second half of this year.

The Zeekr 9X will feature the new G-Pilot system, which utilizes artificial intelligence to avoid obstacles and locate available parking spaces, the company confirmed.

This announcement comes shortly after Tesla revealed that it had begun offering advanced self-driving features for its vehicles in China, including autopilot functions on city streets. These features are similar to those available in the United States but are designed to be used with driver supervision.
