Sir Elton John has been reflecting on how much he "doesn't want to die" in light of recent thoughts about his mortality.
The 78-year-old pop legend recently teamed up with Brandi Carlile to write the song "Never Too Late," which explores his relationship with longtime collaborator Bernie Taupin. Although Elton is known for not being sentimental, he admitted that he has been considering his own mortality as he grows older.
Speaking on CBS News Sunday Morning, Elton shared:
“It’s a song that’s just as much about Bernie as it is about me. It’s about both of us and how wonderful our love and friendship has been and our songwriting.”
“I can’t imagine my life without him in it. When you get to a certain age... I don’t want to die. Unfortunately, we do.”
Elton's candid words highlight the deep connection he shares with Bernie and his personal reflections on aging and life.
