Mercedes-Benz has unveiled the CLA L at the 2025 Shanghai Motor Show—a long-wheelbase version of the CLA sedan developed specifically for the Chinese market.
Measuring 4,763 mm in length with a 2,865 mm wheelbase, both dimensions have been extended by 40 mm, making the CLA L longer than the C-Class, while sharing its wheelbase. Designed with passenger comfort in mind, the CLA L features a uniquely tailored rear seat with a 10 mm longer cushion and softer bolsters for improved leg support and enhanced ride comfort.
While structurally different, the CLA L shares much of its interior technology with the standard CLA. This includes a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster, a 14-inch central touchscreen, and a 14-inch display for the front passenger, all powered by a region-specific version of the MB.OS. For the Chinese market, the MBUX Virtual Assistant supports localised features, including native voice input and DouBao AI integration from ByteDance, alongside dedicated Chinese navigation and content databases.
Under the hood, the CLA L is an electric vehicle based on an 800-volt architecture, equipped with a rear-mounted motor producing 268 BHP. It offers an impressive CLTC range of up to 866 km, with rapid charging capability—adding 370 km of range in just 10 minutes using a 320 kW DC charger. MercedesBenz claims the CLA L is the most efficient vehicle in its class, boasting 93% energy efficiency from battery to wheels. During prototype testing, the model reportedly achieved a 1,071 km range on a single charge, consuming just 8.26 kWh per 100 km at constant speeds.
