Ranveer Singh, Deepika Padukone win top honours at Filmfare Awards

Actors and rumoured couple Ranveer Singh and Deepika Padukone won top honours at the 61st Filmfare Awards this year, The Times of India live blogged.

Deepika Padukone won the Best Actor in Lead Role (Female) award for her role in ‘Piku’ whereas Ranveer Singh won the award in the male category for ‘Bajirao Mastani’

Deepika was reportedly in tears as she dedicated the award to her parents and thanked the director of the film Shoojit Sircar.

Ranveer touched Deepika’s parents' feet, as a sign of respect, while going on stage to receive his award. He thanked his sister in his acceptance speech.

‘Bajirao Mastani’ won majority of the Filmfare awards in the function, with actor Priyanka Chopra winning Best Supporting Actor (Female), director Sanjay Leela Bhansali the Best Director and singer Shreya Ghoshal the Best Playback Singer (Female) for the song “Deewani Mastani”.

Actor Shah Rukh Khan made a comeback to the Filmfare awards stage with comedian Kapil Sharma as the hosts of the award function, held in Mumbai, yesterday.
