Going the Yoga way

Bahraini Amal Jaffar graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Applied Linguistics from the Jordan University of Science and Technology and has had a working experience of a total of nine years in the field of marketing and communications in some of the biggest agencies and marketing departments in Bahrain.

Amal then found herself first practising yoga in 2011 and started teaching yoga in 2014 after completing her first Yoga Teacher Training (RYT 200) in Bahrain.

It was after this that Amal’s corporate world came to an end when she decided to quit her job and set out for her impromptu four-month trip to India. During her sojourn in India, she managed to travel around various States in the country and also completed a teacher training programme specialising in Yoga Therapy.

Upon returning to Bahrain, she then dedicated her full time to teaching yoga. Amal now lives a dedicated lifestyle full of peace and harmony where she also has taken up a passion in cooking healthy vegan food, dancing, blogging, writing and spending time close to the sea.

How Yoga has enriched her life

Amal has nourished her passion with dedication by reading yoga text books, watching tutorial videos, attending workshops, taking online courses and practising yoga lessons to get to where she is right now.

“I full heartedly believe that I’ve excelled at the best of my ability at each major milestone in my life,” she told DT News, “However, one of the biggest and so far successful decisions I’ve taken was to liberate myself from the corporate world. It has been very rewarding to get out of my comfort zone and indulge in a world I love; yoga, where I share teachings I strongly believe in and see their amazing benefits for students.”

To understand why yoga has captivated and matured her perspectives liberally, Amal explains that, “The field of yoga continues to provide me with multiple tools and practices that help cultivate deeper self-awareness. Since I began practising yoga and studying yogic philosophy, I have benefited from enjoying a clearer mind, a stronger and more flexible body, and a general feeling of lightness, happiness and open-heartedness. I strongly believe in the benefits of yoga to alleviate stress and promote relaxation among many infinite benefits, thus I find utmost pleasure in sharing this gift and those teachings with others.”

Amal currently teaches group yoga classes at a couple of studios in Bahrain. She also works on one-to-one student private classes that cater to their specific needs and gives yoga workshops in several GCC countries. This has become a job that she is passionate about because of the connections she develops with people. “I deal with people in their full reality, I deal with minds, hearts, experiences and physical bodies, with utter humanity in all our beauty and quirky imbalances. It is beautiful to see how quite diverse we are and different and at the same time how similar and connected we are. My job, in the end of almost every day, always reminds me of the beauty of love, abundance and existence.”

On the subject of her writing, she has found it another strong tool of meditation in which she says, “Writing has always been a strong medium of self-expression to me. I also find it to be a very meditative process on its own, helping with cultivating more self-awareness. On my blog, I publish poems and articles I’ve written that reflect my thoughts and feelings.”

Amal continues doing the job she loves, and in the future she dreams and wishes to establish her own yoga studio and to share her energy, attention and love through that space.
