Parents to accompany kids for 'The Jungle Book', What about GCC kids?

In the US and India 'The Jungle Book' has been certified as PG/UA (parental guidance) for some sequences of scary action and fit for children to watch only under parental supervision.

This has left audiences amused.

Indian censor board is requiring parents to accompany children under 12 at screenings of Disney's 'The Jungle Book' because the special effects made its animals too scary.

The movie opens in Indian theaters on Friday. It's a computer-generated remake of the 1967 animated film that was based on Rudyard Kipling's book.

Censor board chief Pahlaj Nihalini justified the restriction by saying the 3D effects were scary as the animals seem to jump right at the audience.

"It's up to parents to decide how much of these effects are suited for their children," Nihalani told reporters late Wednesday.

The decision hasn't gone well with many actors, filmmakers and widely critised by audience. Social media was quick to pick up the debate and soon the movie was trending on Twitter.

However, the UAE censorboard has certified the movie with G (general audience).

UAE residents are keenly awaiting for the visual treat in the 105 mins film.

Joseph, "I would surely take my daughter to watch the movie. She has been watching the old version on YouTube and loves Mowgli. I would, however, still ensure to be with her so that if there are any violent scenes she is not too scared."

The movie created by animation and motion capture takes viewer on a very entertaining ride. Urvashi Chakrabarty says, "My son loves animation films and it will be a pleasant change from all the superhero and Marvel series."

Himadri Gautam is more than willing to accompany his son to the theatres, "I grew up listening to the Hindi title song "Jungle jungle baat chali hai... how can I not take my son to experience such for a insane visual journey?"

The movie will release on April 14 in the GCC.
