DT Woman - Exploring Talents

Heba Tariq has been  very active as a medical student, public speaker, actress and model. Graduating from Muharraq Secondary Girls School, she immediately won a scholarship to study Medicine in Arabian Gulf University.
Although Political Science was her first choice, she says the path of Medicine seemed to choose her.
Now currently in her final year of med school, she does not restrict herself to academics. She is also active in organising events like exhibitions, races, gala nights and hosting shows and conferences.
She also worked with General Organisation for Youth and Sports (GOYS) for a few years in Youth City. She considers her major achievements to be involved in annual public speaking contests in her university.
Abundant passion
Speaking to herself in front of the mirror gave her confidence to take part in school speaking contests, where she won many prizes. Gradually, she realised her talent in speaking and decided to develop it.
“The idea of having a group of people paying attention to a certain message you want to deliver is overwhelming. The great moments are when I feel like my messages influence the people,” Heba says.
Acting was her second love. She started acting for fun at high school but it was during her university days that she took acting seriously. It was then that she met director Khalid Al Rowaie, who discovered her talent and gladly shed light on her potential. Since then, they have successfully done three theatrical plays together.
Her love for make up and photographs embellished her passion for acting.
“I am a selfie freak and a makeup addict. Put these two together, you’d have a model right there. I enjoy every minute of being in front of a camera lens and have gained a lot of support from my makeup artist friends and photographers.”

The balancing act

So how does she balance it all?
“Balancing is the hardest job ever,” she feels. “I go around juggling work, studies, gym, hobbies and outings, but honestly sometimes they’d overlap. At the end of the day, it takes a lot of efforts and focus, but it’s worth it. It cherishes your personality and lets you grow in so many ways. It helps you excel in a lot of fields and explore your talents. It breaks your routine and adds a lot of spice to your life even if it gets exhausting. It all pays off in the end.”

Motivation

According to Heba, her motivation is her future self. The person she is after 10 years reminds her why she should never stop working hard and improving herself.
“A word of advice would be, find what you are good at and work your best at being excellent,” she adds.
She says she wants to take one step at a time for the future.
“My plans include graduating med school, then probably starting internship. Later I will decide what I want to do from there. I also see myself hosting my own TV show as a plan further into the future,” she signs off.
