You must tell this five things to your car wash boy!
1. Don't ignore birds droppings. It's important to clean off bird droppings, dead insects and tree sap, as these can be very harmful to your vehicle’s paint and you may end up with permanent stains.
2. Never use the same sponge for wheels and tyres that you use for the car body. Wheel wells, hubcaps and rubber tyres collect all sorts of abrasive gunk that you don’t want anywhere near your car paint.
3. Follow the "two bucket method". One of the most common mistakes manual car washers do is to wash and rinse the cars using the same bucket. By dipping the wash mitt in the rinse bucket before returning to the soap bucket, this removes the contaminants that have come off your cars paint and prevents them from being exposed again to the paint’s surface.
4. Wash from top to bottom. The best way to avoid trapping dirt in your wash mitt (and therefore scratching the paint), is by starting with the least dirty section of the car. The roof/hood tend to be the least dirty, with windows next, then doors being more dirty and the rear being the most dirty. By starting at the top of the car, you keep your mitt relatively clean as you work your way down towards the more contaminated sections.
5. Rinse your drying chamois towel as you wipe. Another mistake many car owners make is just twisting the towel dry and continuing onto another panel. Always have a bucket of clean water for you to rinse the towel before drying again. This ensures your towel is clean before wiping the next panel.
