Ahead of a major restructuring, British car manufacturer Jaguar announces plans to discontinue its entire lineup of internal combustion engine (ICE) models by June 2024, marking a strategic shift towards becoming an electric vehicle (EV)-only brand by 2025.

Reports indicate that Jaguar will revamp its assembly lines to accommodate an entirely new EV platform, leading to the discontinuation of its current EV offering, the I-Pace, along with its ICE lineup.

Models such as the XF, E-Pace, and F-Pace are slated for discontinuation later this year, with the 2024 model year of the F-Type confirmed as its final production run. Production of the I-Pace electric SUV is expected to continue until early next year.

Joe Eberhardt, CEO of JLR North America, confirms that while production of existing models will cease in June, they will remain available for purchase until the arrival of the new-generation EVs. Eberhardt explains, “The majority of our products cease production in June, but they will be on sale for a much longer time,” adding, “We will have a production schedule that enables us to have a continuous supply of vehicles until the new cars come… We’re trying to time it so we have enough volume to take us through to the launch of the new product and have a clean handover.”

Looking ahead, Jaguar’s first next-generation EV model will debut as a 4-door GT, billed as the brand’s most powerful road car to date, boasting up to 575 BHP. The EV is anticipated to accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in under 4 seconds and offer a driving range of approximately 700 km. With pricing expected to hover around the $127,000 mark, Jaguar aims to deliver both performance and sustainability in its upcoming EV lineup.
