Antalya Film Fest: Vanessa Redgrave to Get Lifetime Achievement Award
Vanessa Redgrave is set to receive a lifetime achievement award at the closing Sunday of the 52nd Antalya International Film Festival.
The Oscar-winning British actress and political activist will be accompanied by her husband, Italian actor Franco Nero, with the festival hosting a rare public screening of Warner Bros.' 1967 film Camelot in their honor.
Redgrave, one of the few actors to have won an Oscar, a Tony and an Emmy award, is from a distinguished film and theater family. During her career she has appeared on stage as well as on screen; with Britain's Royal Shakespeare Company, in London's West End and New York's Broadway theaters.
The more than 80 films she has appeared in include movies that are now classics, such as Michelangelo Antonioni's Blow Up and David Hare's Wetherby and Hollywood blockbusters such as Deep Impact and Mission Impossible.
She will next be seen in Jim Sheridan's film The Secret Scripture.
An active supporter of global human rights, Redgrave has served as a UNICEF Goodwill Ambassador and campaigned against the war in Iraq among other issues.
