BMW recently unveiled the "Concept Skytop" at the Concorso d'Eleganza Villa d'Este near Lake Como, Italy.

This one-off show car harkens back to a more sophisticated design era of the brand, while also providing a glimpse into the potential future of BMW's stylish road-going cars.

The Concept Skytop is based on the existing 8 Series but features bespoke body panels and a targa-style open cockpit.

It incorporates nostalgic elements from older BMW models, such as a joystick gear lever, replacing the current toggle switches.

Under the hood, the Concept Skytop boasts a pure combustion powertrain with a 4.4-liter twin-turbocharged V8 engine.

Although BMW has not released official power figures, reports suggest it produces around 520 BHP.

The engine is mated to an 8-speed automatic gearbox, delivering power to all four wheels.

Aesthetically, the Concept Skytop stands out with its relatively small, illuminated kidney grille at the front, reminiscent of the iconic shark nose of the original CS Coupe.

It is flanked by sleek headlights with clean interiors. The sides and rear continue the minimalistic design theme with few creases and a sleek pair of tail lights.

Inside, the Concept Skytop retains the 8 Series origins with a straightforward dashboard layout equipped with plenty of advanced technology.
