Plastic surgery for all deformities

Any sort of deformity or any unwanted growth on the face can be easily treated through plastic surgery, said Dr Habib Merza, prominent ENT & Facial Plastic Surgeon.

Speaking to DT News, Dr. Habib said treating malformations significantly increases the confidence level of patients.

“Generally there is a misconception that facial plastic surgery is very expensive but we are offering it at affordable prices, so that anyone can come and get treated,” Dr. Habib said.

He said many patients approach him with problems to their external shape of the pinna (external part of the ear). “The most common deformity of the pinna is a prominent pinna (Bat ears). This is generally caused in the school age, leading to inferiority complex and psychological issues,” he said.

He said, this, and other problems such as facial wrinkles and spots can be effectively removed through facial plastic procedures.

Dr Habib Centre also treats common ENT diseases among children, such as frequent sore throat, nose block and ear infection, besides speech problems. ENT treatments for adults are also available.

“Rhinoplasty (cosmetic surgery of the nose), eye lid surgery (blepharoplasty), facial lift, neck lift, eyebrow lift and excision of the facial moles in addition to facial reconstructive surgeries are common facial plastic surgeries done in high level of standard and proficiency in our centre”, he added.

The centre is equipped with most modern machinery, giving it a competitive edge, he stated.

“Not only the black hair, but also dark brown, light brown and even the dark grey hair can be treated ” he said.

“We also have sophisticated machinery for measuring the hearing level of the patient. We have very advanced microscopic instruments and many of the surgeries can be done without letting the patient undergo general anaesthesia and this is one of the advantages of this centre,” Dr. Habib stated.

The staff at the centre make it a point to ensure the comfort of the patient, not only during the working hours but also after that, he said.

Dr. Habib, who has treated patients from a number of GCC countries including

Bahrain, Saudi Arabia, UAE, Kuwait, Oman, said he is gradually trying to expand the clinic to other Middle Eastern countries.

ENT problems are common in winter due to spread of viruses and in some cases, bacteria. May visitors to Bahrain suffer from these problems, caused by the change in atmosphere.

Dr. Habib warned to avoid exposure to the dust and smoke to keep away from such problems.

“Dust and the increasing level of gases in the air can affect the vocal cord,” said Dr. Habib. “Such people who have any problem with their vocal cords must avoid exposure to smoke. They should wear masks and drink a sufficient amount of fluids.”

“Smoke is a well known factor affecting not only the larynx but also the lungs,” he said, explaining, “It is a well known factor for larynx and lungs cancer.”
