Mercedes-Benz unveiled the HWA EVO last year, a restomod based on the iconic 190E and crafted by one of AMG’s founders.
Now, a year later, the very first car, with chassis number 000, is set to go up for public auction.
The auction will take place on July 27 at RM Sotheby’s Tegernsee Auction, in association with the Concours of Elegance in Germany.
Chassis 000 will start at a base price of 718,000 euros (plus VAT), with expectations that it will sell for no less than a million euros.
Chassis 000 is the first of 100 units to b e built, all of which have already been allocated to customers.
This particular chassis will serve as the official blueprint for the remaining cars, with each step of the build process meticulously documented.
The buyer of chassis 000 will receive signed copies of these documents, while the official papers will be retained by HWA.
Inspired by the 190E 2.5-16 Evo II, each model undergoes an extensive restoration process.
This includes significant bodywork updates using carbon fibre, designed by Khyzyl Saleem.
HWA then installs a 3.5-litre turbocharged V6 engine, producing 444 BHP, with an option to boost it to 493 BHP and 550 Nm of torque.
The engine is paired with a 6-speed manual gearbox.
