Shaikh Nasser concludes visit to Chechnya
Grozny/Manama : His Highness Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa yesterday wrapped up his trip to the Chechen Republic with visits to presidential retreat and special forces command, besides attending the celebrations marking the 199th anniversary of the founding of the Chechen capital, Grozny.
“The Chechen Republic occupies a special historic standing and is an example to follow in the region,” Shaikh Nasser said expressing his utmost thanks and appreciation to President Ramzan Akhmadovich Kadyrov for his warm hospitality.
HH Shaikh Nasser, Representative of His Majesty the King for Charity Works and Youth Affairs, Chairman of the Supreme Council for Youth and Sports, President of Bahrain Olympic Committee, said that his visit would open up new horizons of joint cooperation and boost the long-standing relations between the two friendly countries.
“We have received great admiration from President Kadyrov over the course of the Bahraini-Chechen relations,” said Shaikh Nasser stressing the importance of continuing bilateral consultation and coordination and exchanging visits.
Earlier in the day, Shaikh Nasser attended national celebrations of the Chechen Republic and toured the Presidential Retreat of Ramzan Akhmadovich Kadyrov. At the end of the tour, HH Shaikh Nasser was given a souvenir.
The celebrations marked the 199th anniversary of the founding of the capital Grozny and the 41st birthday of the Chechen Republic President Ramzan Akhmadovich Kadyrov.
A large crowd, including senior officials, attended the event. The celebration featured cultural, artistic, heritage and folklore events that reflect various aspects of the history of the Chechen Republic and the development of its capital.
A concert was also organised on this occasion, featuring many singers and a mass wedding that included 199 couples. On this occasion, HH Shaikh Nasser delivered a speech in which he conveyed the greetings of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa to the President of the Chechen Republic and all the guests.
Separately, Royal Guard Commander Lieutenant-Colonel HH Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa, who is also a member of the Supreme Defence Council, visited the Chechen Republic’s special forces, where he witnessed drills with live ammunition.
Shaikh Nasser was briefed on the aims and stages of the drills, which included counterterrorism operations, and release of hostages. On this occasion, the Royal Guard Commander said the drills have enhanced the military readiness and advanced capabilities in carrying out various tasks. The Royal Guard Commander praised the distinguished levels delivered by the members of the Chechen army who took part in the drills.
Kadyrov, Prime Minister, Parliament Speaker and a number of ministers and senior officials, as well as the Ambassador of Bahrain to Russia Ahmed Al Saati, saw off HH Shaikh Nasser at the airport.
