101th Anniversary of the Proclamation of the Republic of Türkiye

H.E. ESIN CAKIL, AMBASSADOR OF THE REPUBLIC OF TÜRKIYE TO THE KINGDOM OF BAHRAIN

Today, we celebrate the 101st anniversary of the Proclamation of the Republic of Türkiye, which was a major turning point for the Turkish nation and the date on which the foundations of modern Türkiye were laid.

On October 29, 1923, the Grand National Assembly of Türkiye determined the country’s form of government to be a republic and gave the Turkish people the indispensable right to actively participate in shaping the future of the nation.

For more than 100 years, Türkiye has been an independent and prosperous state where every citizen has a voice in her governance. Modern Türkiye, with her identity built on fundamental principles such as freedom, democracy and unity, leaves no one behind and promotes peace in its neighborhood and beyond.

We will always cherish our great Republic, which is the most valuable inheritance left to us by the Great Leader Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, the founder of our country, who sheds light on us all even today with his vision.

Last year, we initiated the “Century of Türkiye”, a comprehensive roadmap that set aims for reaching even more remarkable achievements in the second century of our Republic, under the leadership of H.E. Recep Tayyip Erdogan, the President of the Republic of Türkiye.

As it has always been the case, Türkiye will continue to implement an enterprising and humanitarian foreign policy for ensuring peace, stability and prosperity all over the world and she will advocate for upholding international law on every platform.

For more than 50 years, the Republic of Türkiye and the Kingdom of Bahrain have a deep-rooted and strong relationship that develops in every field from politics to health, from education to energy.

The visions of President H.E. Recep Tayyip Erdogan and His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa is invaluable in developing the cooperation between the two countries. I humbly believe that there is still a great potential for cooperation between two countries that can be further developed at bilateral, regional and global levels.

As I approach the end of my tenure here, I am proud of the progress we have made in strengthening the sisterly relations between Türkiye and Bahrain. Yet, I am sure that our areas of cooperation will enrich in the coming period.

I am proud to serve in beautiful Bahrain, where everyone lives in peace, harmony and joy thanks to His Majesty King Hamad’s rule. I sincerely thank all Bahraini authorities for their precious help and guidance, who have always made me feel welcomed from the very first day of my almost four-year tenure.

Your kindness will always be remembered with gratitude. I would like to take this opportunity to congratulate Turkish citizens residing in Bahrain, who constitute a respected community, on the 101th anniversary of our Republic.

I would like to thank them wholeheartedly for representing Türkiye in the best way by reflecting our national moral and values. With these feelings, I congratulate the 101th anniversary of the Proclamation of our Republic, our great source of pride and joy
