Tesla is gearing up to launch its V4 Supercharging stations next year, according to reports. These new V4 Superchargers are expected to deliver charging speeds of up to 500 kW for electric vehicles and 1.2 MW for commercial trucks.

Installation of the V4 cabinets has already begun, but Tesla plans to upgrade the stall electronics next year to enable faster charging speeds. Although V4 stalls were introduced in Europe and select locations in the United States last year, they are currently limited to V3 Supercharger capabilities, which max out at 250 kW.

In addition to enhanced charging power, the V4 Supercharger stalls will feature new physical payment terminals, longer cables, and CCS connectors, making them compatible with Tesla vehicles as well as other manufacturers’ EVs. Tesla also claims that V4 cabinets can be deployed more quickly and are capable of powering up to eight stalls each.
