Sydney Sweeney, the 27-year-old actress known for her breakout roles, has opened up about her early struggles with navigating fame and maintaining her privacy. Despite her meteoric rise in Hollywood, the Euphoria star admits she wasn’t always sure about what parts of herself she should reveal to the public.
In an interview with Vanity Fair for their 2025 Hollywood Issue, Sydney shared her thoughts on how she would advise her younger self. "I often go back and forth," she explained. "One part of me thinks, 'Sydney, don't give them any part of you, just talk about work.' But another part wishes I could have been more open from the start, so there's no confusion about who I am."
Sydney revealed that early in her career, she tried to hide her true personality. "I just tried to hide who I was for so long because I wanted to keep some part of myself for myself. I didn’t want to give it all away," she said.
The actress also noted the challenge of how the public often forms its perceptions of celebrities. "People create their idea of who you are," she continued. "Then when you only talk about work, people get bored or frustrated. They create their version of you. I see that happening all the time with me."
Sydney, who is engaged to businessman Jonathan Davino, has previously admitted to still adjusting to the pressures of fame. In a conversation with ES Magazine, she reflected on her ongoing journey in handling public scrutiny. "I think I’m still navigating it daily," she shared. "I want to be as authentic and open with my fans as possible. I talk a lot, I’m very open, and it might be to my detriment, but I don’t know how anyone can hide behind an image."
