Bhavans – Bahrain Indian School (BIS) recently conducted an inspiring workshop aimed at helping students in grades 8 and 9 manage academic and emotional stress. The session, held on Thursday, was led by Dr. Feba Percy Paul from the American Mission Hospital. It focused on the seven dimensions of well-being and how stress impacts students’ mental capacity, overall health, and daily lives.
Dr. Paul explained how disruptions in the seven dimensions of well-being could lead to significant challenges, such as irregular sleep patterns, anger issues, behavioural problems, fatigue, poor academic performance, and low self-esteem. By highlighting these effects, she helped students understand how stress influences their mental and physical health.
The workshop was packed with practical strategies to manage stress effectively. Dr. Paul guided students in identifying their stress triggers and provided actionable techniques to build resilience and enhance their well-being. The interactive nature of the session encouraged students to open up about their own experiences and share coping strategies with their peers, fostering a sense of community and mutual support.
BIS’s Directors, Mr. Himanshu Verma and Mrs. Ritu Verma, emphasized the critical role of mental health education in creating a nurturing learning environment. Mrs. Ritu Verma shared, “We believe that equipping our students with the tools to manage stress is essential for their academic success and personal development.”
Principal Mr. Saji Jacob reaffirmed the school’s commitment to supporting students’ mental health and emotional growth. “Providing our students with resources like this workshop is crucial to helping them develop resilience and healthy coping strategies,” he said.
The workshop is part of BIS’s broader efforts to foster a supportive environment where students can thrive academically and personally. It reflects the school’s dedication to preparing students for a balanced, successful future.
