Katy Perry’s brief but thrilling journey to the edge of space earlier this month has left her fellow ‘American Idol’ stars in awe. The pop sensation, known for hits like “Firework”, joined an all-female crew on an 11-minute flight aboard Blue Origin, the space travel company founded by Amazon’s Jeff Bezos. The mission took Perry and five other women to the edge of space, a milestone that Perry called “totally crazy.”

Katy, who shares a four-year-old daughter, Daisy, with fiancé Orlando Bloom, was joined by fellow adventurers Gayle King, Lauren Sanchez, Aisha Bowe, Amanda Nguyen, and Kerianne Flynn. Despite her excitement, Perry kept her experience brief in conversations with friends and colleagues, describing the journey as “just totally crazy,” without providing further details. Perry’s former American Idol colleague, Luke Bryan, shared his enthusiasm about the mission, recalling his reaction when he first heard the news.

“I remember when I heard the news that she was going, I was like, ‘Wow, that’s crazy that you’re getting to go. But now, when she got back safe, I was like, ‘Oh my god, wow. Awesome,’” Luke said during an interview with E! News. The country singer, who has exchanged a few texts with Perry since the flight, revealed that they haven’t had a proper conversation about the experience yet, adding, “I’ll be interested to hear her version of it.”

While Luke Bryan was captivated by the moment, he expressed his relief that Perry and the crew returned safely. Ryan Seacrest, the host of American Idol, praised Katy’s bravery for participating in the space trip, admitting that he would have been too hesitant to embark on such an adventure himself. “I’m very, very happy that she did it and got back safely. She’s braver than I am,” Ryan said.

Meanwhile, Lionel Richie, who has been a judge on the show alongside Perry, made it clear he wasn’t ready to take the leap into space. “When she said she was going to space, I said, ‘You go right on. I’ll stay right down here,’” Lionel quipped. “I didn’t give her any advice because you know Katy. She’s going to do exactly what she wants to do.”

Carrie Underwood, who replaced Perry as a judge on American Idol, echoed Lionel’s sentiments, expressing that while she thought the experience was “crazy” and “amazing,” she was happy to stay grounded. “I’m good on the ground,” she said with a laugh.

Perry’s mission into space wasn’t just a personal triumph; it also held sentimental value. She brought along a small daisy, in tribute to her daughter, which she proudly held up as she exited the capsule. This simple yet powerful gesture was a reminder of her deep connection to her family, even in the vastness of space.

As for Katy herself, the spaceflight was a bold, exhilarating experience, one she will no doubt reflect on for years to come. Her journey has left a mark not only in her own life but also in the minds of those who follow her career and personal adventures.
