Two women accused of causing criminal damage were denied bail on Saturday after private jets were sprayed with orange paint at a London airport.
Two Just Stop Oil protestors pleaded not guilty to causing criminal damage valued at more than £52,000 ($65,700) when they appeared in court. Jennifer Kowalski, 28, and Cole Macdonald, 22 were also charged with aggravated trespass and interfering with national infrastructure, police said in a statement.
They denied all charges.
The two were accused of breaking through a fence at Stansted airport, northeast of London, on Thursday and entering a private area.
Just Stop Oil said protestors had entered the airfield and used fire extinguishers filled with orange paint on Thursday. The protest group claimed US pop star Taylor Swift’s private jet had landed at Stansted “hours earlier”.
But Essex Police said Swift’s jet was not at the airport at the time.
