The Saudi Geological Survey (SGS) has shed light on the recent earthquake in the Hail region. According to spokesperson Tariq Abu Al-Khail, the temblor, measuring 3.6 on the Richter scale, occurred east of Shan'an on Friday, June 28th, 2024, at 12:03 PM.

Abu Al-Khail attributes the earthquake to a combination of factors. General tectonic stresses, along with the movement of volcanic magma beneath the Hetima Harra volcanic field, caused weak to moderate seismic activity. These stresses can reactivate existing fault lines within the region, triggering earthquakes with tremors felt in all directions.

The SGS assures residents that the situation is stable. There were no aftershocks recorded, and the tremors caused only minor sensations. The agency continuously monitors seismic activity around the clock.
