Parked GMC Van catches fire

A GMC van caught fire due to a short-circuit yesterday in Hamad Town’s fifth roundabout. Meanwhile, the driver escaped unhurt. According to the driver, the vehicle suddenly went up in flames while it was parked on sidewalk.

“I tried to extinguish the fire, but all went in vain. I later decided to call the Civil Defence who arrived to the scene within minutes,” the driver said. But the fire caused huge damage to the body as well as the interior of the van.

” After inspecting the car the Civil Defence personnel told me that the blaze erupted owing a short-circuit,” he concluded.

In a separate road mishap, a Bahraini driver suffered injuries after his Toyota Cressida car rammed another vehicle on Sitra Causway. Eyewitnesses said that the driver crashed his car into another vehicle parked on the emergency stopping lane in the causeway when he tried to evade hitting another car that suddenly shifted to his lane. He was admitted to hospital.
