Tesla has issued a recall for more than 27,000 Cybertruck pickups, citing a defect in the rearview camera that can be resolved through a software update. The announcement, made this week to U.S. authorities, states that the camera display may remain blank for six to eight seconds, potentially impairing the driver’s rear view and increasing the risk of a collision.

According to Tesla’s notification to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, the issue arises because the cameras may fail to complete their shutdown process before the system is activated again. Although Tesla has received 45 warranty claims related to this defect, the company confirmed it is not aware of any accidents or injuries associated with the issue.

The affected Cybertrucks were produced between November 2023 and September 2024. Owners can easily remedy the situation by obtaining an “over-the-air software update” by contacting Tesla.
