A terrifying incident unfolded on the streets of Jaipur on Saturday when a car caught fire and began moving driverless through traffic, sparking panic among motorists and pedestrians. The vehicle, reportedly an MG Hector, burst into flames on an elevated road in the Sodala area, creating chaos as it sped across the road after its handbrake failed.

Eyewitnesses described the scene as alarming, with people running in fear as the burning car rolled uncontrollably, eventually hitting a motorcyclist before crashing into a divider. Fortunately, no casualties were reported.

Jitendra Jangid, the driver of the car, told authorities that smoke began to emerge from the car’s bonnet, prompting him and his passengers to evacuate. However, after they got out, the car began moving downhill, apparently due to a malfunction in the handbrake.

According to fire officials, a team from the 22 Godam fire station rushed to the scene after receiving reports of the blaze. Despite their efforts, the car was completely gutted. "There was no loss of life, but the car was destroyed," said Dinesh Kumar, a fire officer involved in the operation.

Social media erupted with videos and images of the burning car, showing the vehicle colliding with a motorcycle as bystanders fled the scene. Initial reports suggest that a short circuit may have caused the fire, though an official investigation is still underway.

The incident serves as a stark reminder of the dangers of mechanical failures, but thanks to the quick actions of the driver and passengers, they escaped unharmed.
