Amid rising tensions in the Middle East, Jordan’s Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates, Ayman Safadi, met with Josep Borrell, the High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy of the European Union. Their discussions took place on the sidelines of the 9th Regional Forum of Foreign Ministers of the Union for the Mediterranean, highlighting the urgent need for collaborative action in the face of escalating conflicts.
The ongoing Israeli aggression against Gaza and Lebanon has raised international concerns, prompting both leaders to address these pressing issues. Safadi and Borrell focused on efforts to halt the violence, particularly in light of the serious escalation in the West Bank. They emphasized the critical importance of protecting civilians and ensuring the provision of adequate and sustainable humanitarian aid to those affected by the conflict.
“Our discussions reflect a shared commitment to regional stability and the urgent need for a diplomatic resolution to the current crises,” Safadi stated. “It is imperative that we work together to protect innocent lives and provide the necessary humanitarian assistance to those in Gaza and Lebanon.”
In addition to addressing immediate humanitarian concerns, the talks also covered the broader context of the Jordanian-European partnership. Both leaders expressed a mutual commitment to enhancing cooperation across various sectors, recognizing that a united front is essential for fostering peace and stability in the region.
