In recognition of Breast Cancer Awareness Month, the Global Organization of People of Indian Origin (GOPIO) Bahrain, in partnership with American Mission Hospital (AMH), hosted a pivotal event dedicated to raising awareness about the critical connection between breast cancer and mental health.
The session, held for ladies and young girls, aimed to foster understanding of how wellness, nutrition, and artificial intelligence (AI) can support breast cancer awareness and mental health.
The awareness session highlighted the importance of early detection and screening, a message reinforced by Dr. Bhanu Vasudevan, an Obstetrician & Gynecologist at AMH Manama. "Raising awareness about breast cancer and the need for regular screening is essential for early detection and improving survival rates," said Dr. Vasudevan.
In a world where mental health challenges are becoming more common, Asma Mohammed emphasized the need to address these concerns openly. "We must encourage individuals to seek support for anxiety, depression, and stress as part of their overall health and wellness journey," she stated.
Following the educational session, attendees were offered free examinations and check-ups, reinforcing the event's commitment to women's health. As a token of appreciation, giveaways were provided by event sponsors VMB Bros and Al Aujan Group.
AI-Powered Support for the Future
One of the highlights of the event was the introduction of "AskGOPIO," an AI-powered search engine developed by GOPIO Bahrain to integrate wellness, nutrition, and support for breast cancer awareness and mental health. This free and intelligent platform provides resources and answers to help individuals navigate their health challenges effectively. Learn more about AskGOPIO at askgopio.com.
GOPIO Bahrain President Tina Mathew and Vice President Samuel Paul expressed their gratitude to the event’s main sponsors, VMB Bros and Al Aujan Group, for their generous contributions. The organizing committee also extended thanks to the volunteers who played an essential role in ensuring the event’s success.
AMH officials, along with GOPIO committee members, including GS Roshan George, Asst. GS Sunitha Vivek, PR Secretary Ameena Rahman, and Admin Secretary Manisha, were present to show their support for this vital cause.
A spokesperson for the event stated, "Both AMH and GOPIO remain dedicated to the fight against breast cancer, encouraging women to prioritize their health by increasing awareness and access to necessary resources."
This event marks a significant step towards holistic healing by addressing both the physical and mental aspects of breast cancer, ensuring a brighter, healthier future for women in Bahrain and beyond.
