Gyrocopter crashes near Skydive Dubai during World Air Games

The Organising Committee of the 2015 FAI World Air Games has said that they are fully cooperating with the Civil Aviation authorities and Dubai Police to ascertain the reasons behind the cause of the gyrocopter crash during the course of competition on Wednesday.

“We do not know the cause of the accident nor do we know of the medical condition of the pilot. But we will take all measures to relay information on the incident when we have word from the relevant authorities,” a spokesperson from the Organising Committee said in a statement released late on Wednesday.

One of the gyrocopters participating at the competition went down in the water off the Skydive Dubai drop zone late on Wednesday afternoon. The pilot was rushed to hospital after being administered initial medical aid by the ambulance services present on-site.

“The name of the pilot has been withheld in order to ensure privacy and till all further enquiries have been completed,” the spokesperson said.

“In the meantime, we will make all arrangements to fully cooperate with the Civil Aviation Authority and Dubai Police in ascertaining the cause that led to the accident,” the spokesperson added.
