DHL Cargo Plane Crashes Near Vilnius Airport in Lithuania, Leaving One Dead and Two Injured

A DHL cargo plane crashed near Vilnius Airport in Lithuania early Monday morning, killing one person and injuring two others, authorities confirmed. The incident occurred at approximately 03:30 GMT when the airplane, operated by SWIFT airline on behalf of DHL, crashed shortly after taking off from Leipzig, Germany.
The plane, which was carrying cargo, fell onto a residential house. Remarkably, all individuals inside the house survived the crash, according to a spokesperson from Lithuania’s National Crisis Management Center.
Firefighters responded quickly to the scene, with smoke billowing from a building located approximately 1.3 kilometers (0.8 miles) north of the airport runway. By 05:30 GMT, firefighters were seen spraying water on the burning debris. A significant presence of police and ambulances was also reported in the area, and several surrounding streets were cordoned off as emergency services worked at the site.
Investigations are ongoing to determine the cause of the crash, and authorities are coordinating efforts to support the victims and families affected by this tragic event.
