Philippine President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. is set to visit the United Arab Emirates (UAE) on November 26 for a one-day working trip. The visit, initially planned as a four-day engagement, has been trimmed to allow the President to return promptly to oversee relief and reconstruction efforts in the Philippines following a series of devastating typhoons.
According to the Presidential Communication Office (PCO), this marks President Marcos' rescheduled trip after his planned December 2022 visit was canceled due to the abduction of 17 Filipino seafarers by Houthi rebels in the Red Sea.
During his visit, President Marcos will meet with UAE President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan in Abu Dhabi to discuss bilateral ties, economic collaboration, and other strategic initiatives. The President’s entourage will be limited to essential personnel to ensure a focused and efficient trip.
President Marcos' decision underscores his commitment to addressing both international partnerships and urgent domestic concerns, balancing his diplomatic duties with his hands-on approach to disaster recovery in the Philippines.
