FINAL SHOWDOWN: KARTING SPRINTS FINALE AT BIKC

Three new champions will be crowned on Saturday at the final round of the Bahrain Karting Sprints Championship (BKSC) at Bahrain International Karting Circuit in Sakhir.

The season’s title will be up for grabs in both the Max/Max Masters and the Junior Max categories of the Bahrain Rotax Mojo Max Challenge (BRMMC), while another championship trophy will be claimed in the Sodi Sprint W Series (SSWS).

The BKSC is made up of both the BRMMC and the SSWS. The BRMMC is exclusively for Rotax kart owners, while the SSWS is an arrive-and-drive competition with competitors racing on identical Sodikarts provided by BIKC.

Heading into the grand finale, two drivers in both the Max/Max Masters and Junior Max classes are vying for the crown, while in the SSWS, up to four competitors are still with a chance of emerging victorious.

Najashi Rashdan (1,001 points) and Abdulla Beshara (886) are battling head to head to claim the Max/Max Masters title, with Rashdan the clear favourite as he holds a 115-point lead, while Mohammed Abdulaziz (780) is in third place.

Junior Max class

In the Junior Max class, Hussain Hasan (1,020) holds a narrow 45-point lead over Zaid Audih (975), and both will be engaged in a heated battle for the top spot in both of the final round’s races, as every point won will count to their final standings with Talal Ayman (780) in third place.

The SSWS championship will be a tight four-horse race for first place, Khalid Alsaei (1,677), Abdulla Buhindi (1,636), Mohammed Faqihi (1,566) and Ali Abdulla (1,556) are all still in the title hunt, with just 121 points separating the quartet.

In the BKSC, first place gets 100 points, second place 95 markers, third place 90 points, and so on. Each of the drivers will have an extra number of points added, depending on the number of entrants in the race.

Final round

Action in Saturday’s final round is scheduled to begin at 4.45pm with the BRMMC Free Practice. Qualifying follows at 5.20pm, while Race One is scheduled for 6.05pm and Race Two at 6.55pm.

Participants in the SSWS will head straight into Qualifying at 5pm. Race One is then set for 5.40pm, to be followed by Race Two at 6.30pm. All are welcome to attend the season’s final round and entrance for spectators to BIKC is free.
