Saudi Arabia Gave Prior Warning on Magdeburg Attack Suspect, Reuters Reports

Saudi Arabia has strongly condemned the deadly attack on a Christmas market in the city of Magdeburg, Germany, where a car crashed into a crowd on Friday evening, resulting in the deaths of at least two individuals and leaving over 60 others injured.

In a statement released on Saturday, the Saudi Ministry of Foreign Affairs extended its deepest condolences to the families of the victims and to the German government. The ministry also expressed its hope for the swift recovery of those injured in the tragic incident.

Reaffirming its unwavering stance against all forms of violence, Saudi Arabia emphasized its commitment to combating terrorism and extremism.

A Saudi source revealed to Reuters that the kingdom had previously alerted German authorities about the attacker after he posted extremist content on his personal X (formerly Twitter) account, which raised concerns about peace and security.

The Muslim World League also condemned the attack, reiterating its position against violence and all forms of terrorism. In a separate statement, the group expressed solidarity with the victims, offering heartfelt condolences and sympathy to the families affected, as well as to the broader German community.

The attack, which occurred in the heart of the festive season, has sent shockwaves through both local and international communities, with many leaders and organizations speaking out against the senseless act of violence.
