Russia's civil aviation agency chief, Dmitry Yadrov, has alleged that Ukrainian drones attacked Grozny while an Azerbaijani Airlines plane attempted to land there. The incident occurred Wednesday during challenging weather conditions, with dense fog adding to the complexity.

Yadrov stated on Telegram that Ukrainian military drones were carrying out "terrorist attacks on civilian infrastructure" near Grozny airport. The Azerbaijani jet reportedly made two failed landing attempts before diverting to Aktau airport in Kazakhstan. Yadrov noted that Grozny airport had temporarily suspended operations due to the drone attacks, though he did not specify the timing.

Tragically, the diverted plane crashed in western Kazakhstan, claiming 38 lives out of the 67 passengers and crew on board.

Azerbaijani officials, as cited in media reports, have suggested that a Russian air defense missile might have been involved in the crash. Investigations into the incident are ongoing.
