8 dead, 15 injured in north China market fire: local authorities

A devastating fire broke out early Saturday morning in a vegetable market located in the Qiaoxi district of Zhangjiakou, Hebei Province, in northern China. The fire, which began at approximately 8:40 am, tragically claimed the lives of eight individuals and left 15 others injured, according to local authorities.
Emergency response teams, including firefighters, medical personnel, and rescue workers, rushed to the scene to manage the situation. The open flames were successfully extinguished by 10:10 am, and by 12:50 pm, the rescue operations were completed. The authorities confirmed that the injured victims have been transferred to nearby hospitals, where they are receiving medical treatment. Fortunately, their conditions are not life-threatening at this time.
