The Interior Ministry of Saudi Arabia has reiterated the strict regulations governing the use and management of security surveillance camera recordings, emphasizing that their transfer or publication is prohibited without proper authorization.

According to the ministry, recordings can only be shared with explicit approval from the ministry, the Presidency of State Security, or through a judicial order. Additionally, an investigating authority may request access to the footage as part of legal procedures.

Violators of these provisions face substantial penalties, including fines of up to SR20,000 ($5,327). The ministry stated that this applies not only to the unauthorized transfer or publication of recordings but also to acts of vandalism or tampering with surveillance camera systems or their data.

The regulation is part of Saudi Arabia’s ongoing efforts to enhance security, protect privacy, and maintain the integrity of surveillance systems across the Kingdom. Authorities have urged compliance with the law to avoid legal repercussions.
