Rainfall hit parts of Saudi Arabia early Sunday, with officials forecasting thunderstorms, hail, and strong winds throughout the day. The capital, Riyadh, experienced overcast skies, with moderate rain reported in the morning.

The National Center of Meteorology issued a forecast of strong winds, hail, and thunderstorms, alongside warnings of reduced visibility and the potential for flooding in some regions, according to the Saudi Press Agency.

The southern Jazan region saw heavy rain earlier in the day, impacting Jazan City for Basic and Transformative Industries, as well as the governorates of Ad-Darb, Beesh, and the Farasan Islands. The weather center issued alerts for Jazan, cautioning residents about thunderstorms, high waves, and strong winds. Areas such as Sabya, Abu Arish, Al-Harith, Ad-Dayer, Fifa, and Harub were specifically highlighted in the advisory.

Residents in these areas were warned about the risks of reduced visibility and localized flooding. The heavy rain also brought disruptions to traffic and daily activities, as seen earlier this week when similar weather affected Asir, Makkah, and Madinah regions. Thunderstorms and heavy rain had caused temporary traffic issues, prompting authorities to issue multiple warnings for residents, especially in flood-prone zones.

The rainfall is attributed to seasonal weather patterns that affect parts of the Kingdom, with the Jazan region particularly prone to heavy rains during this time of year, which can lead to flash floods and other challenges.

Authorities in Riyadh and Jazan have urged the public to adhere to safety guidelines, especially for motorists navigating slippery roads and areas prone to water accumulation. Emergency response teams remain on high alert to address any incidents that may arise due to the adverse weather conditions.

Residents in affected regions are advised to stay informed and follow updates from the National Center of Meteorology to ensure their safety as the weather continues to develop.
