30 workers injured in bus-truck collision in RAK

Thirty Asian workers sustained serious to moderate injuries after the bus they were travelling collided with a truck on Qadra Road in Ras Al Khaimah late on Monday.

Major General Ali Alwan , Commander -in-Chief of Ras Al Khaimah Police, said the police operation room received a call  late on Monday informing about the accident.

The workers were on their way home from work when the accident took place. The bus belonged to one of the private construction companies.

The truck driver entered the main road from a side road without checking whether the road was clear, leading to the accident, said the official.

The bus overturned following the accident.

Police air wing, paramedics and police patrols rushed to the accident site. Five of the injured were rushed to Saqr government hospital in RAK for treatment while 15 workers were moved to Fujairah hospital and 10 workers to Al Dhaid Hospital in Sharjah.
