Hamas has handed over three Israeli hostages as part of the ongoing ceasefire agreement between Israel and Hamas, which took effect on January 19.
Among those released are Yarden Bibas, 34, and Ofer Kalderon, 53, who were freed in a formal ceremony in southern Gaza. Meanwhile, US-Israeli citizen Keith Siegel, 65, was released in a separate event in Gaza City. This marks the fourth such release since the truce began.
Following the exchange, the Red Cross confirmed that Siegel had been transferred to their care and was en route to Israeli military forces in the Gaza Strip. He was seen being escorted onto a stage before his transportation to an army base for further processing.
In response to the hostage release, Israel is set to free more than 180 Palestinian prisoners currently held in Israeli detention facilities.
The Red Cross arrived in Gaza City ahead of Siegel’s release, with a large crowd gathering at the scene. Armed soldiers were present to oversee the proceedings.
